In 1987 another Baby Gar the "Helen A" was brought to the Turcotte Brothers for restoration. This boat was originally built for P.K. Wrigley of the spearmint chewing gum fame. The restoration included rebuilding and reinstalling her original V12 Liberty Engine and power train. Like the "Snail" of the previous year the "Helen A" won top honors throughout the northeast and ended the season by gracing the pages of "Classic Boating". 1987 was an important year for the Turcotte Brothers for another reason. It was at this time that the first new Gar Wood was built. This boat was a 33’ ‘Baby Gar’ named "Cheetah", and in her first season won best reproduction at the Clayton Boat show in 1988 as well as numerous other awards.
